Brussels to host “FU-TOURISM” event to shape the future of tourism in Europe
Brussels, 9 June 2026 – On June 11, the Committee of the Regions in Brussels will host“FU-TOURISM: Shaping the Future of Tourism of European Regions and Cities”, a key event bringing together policymakers, tourism experts and innovation stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities defining the future of tourism in Europe.
The event aims to foster a collaborative dialogue on the transformation of the European tourism sector, focusing on strategic priorities such as digitalisation, sustainability, resilience and energy transition.
Designed as a “Birds of a feather” dynamic, participatory and forward-looking session, the event will encourage co-creation among European institutions, regional and local authorities, tourism organisations, startups and innovation actors.
The event will aim to foster discussion around key challenges and opportunities in the tourism sector, with a focus on digitalisation, circular economy, security and energy. It will also bring forward perspectives on the future of tourism from European institutions, explore funding opportunities that support innovation and sustainability, and encourage the exchange of best practices within the regional tourism ecosystem. In addition, the launch of the Tourism Challenge within the Startup Europe Awards 2027 (Ibagué) will be presented. The event will conclude with a networking session, offering participants the opportunity to exchange ideas and build new collaborations.
