Tourism SMEs Strengthen Digital Skills Through Social Media Training Workshop

  • Futourism workshop enhances digital competencies of tourism SMEs and strengthens the strategic use of social media

Brussels, June 4– On June 2, a dedicated online training session titled “Mastering Social Media for Tourism SMEs: Enhancing Service Quality and Analyzing Revenue Impact” was held as part of the Futourism project, bringing together tourism small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to explore how to leverage social media as a strategic tool for growth.

The workshop, delivered within the Futourism accelerator programme, focused on providing participants with practical tools and knowledge to strengthen their digital presence, improve customer engagement, and better understand the impact of social media activities on business performance and revenue.

During the session, participants explored how to build effective social media strategies tailored to the tourism sector. Key topics included understanding customer behavior, creating targeted campaigns based on audience interests, and designing engaging content to boost visibility and interaction.

A central part of the training addressed performance measurement and business impact. Attendees learned how to analyze the customer journey, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and measure return on investment (ROI), particularly in relation to bookings and revenue generation. The session also introduced digital advertising opportunities, including the use of platforms such as YouTube.

In addition, the workshop emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement in today’s digital landscape. Participants gained insights into advocacy strategies, media relations, and how to build stronger connections with institutional and ecosystem actors through social media, enhancing their positioning at both local and European levels.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A and discussion, allowing participants to exchange experiences, share challenges, and identify best practices in digital communication within the tourism sector.

Through initiatives such as this workshop, the Futourism project continues to support tourism SMEs in their digital transition, providing them with actionable strategies to enhance service quality, strengthen competitiveness, and drive sustainable growth.
